Introduction

Natural Batik Village is a business of batik which is developed more than 20 years ago by the owner named Ghazali bin Che Omar. It is located along Jalan Beserah, the route heading towards the famed Cherating beach and onward to Terengganu. This surrounded by ranch-like fencing boutiques will greet visitors.

Originally, Natural Batik Village is known as Ghazali Batik. It is started as an interest of the owner. First, Ghazali turned his artistic endeavor into small cottage industry and 7 years ago, into a small scale industry.

The owner, Ghazali, a Terengganu-born, churn out his own batik brand in Pahang when he found there were more opportunity. Other than batik and products, the boutique also offer finished fashion ranging from the baju kurung to beach wear. It`s also offer visitors to try their hand at batik painting and tour of production area where hundreds of batik stamp can be seen hanging from wooden perches over 2 walls.

The  factory itself occupies a sprawling 86000 square feet in Balok ans houses not only the manufacturing facility but also the East Coast`s largest batik showroom.

Generally, batik is thought of as the most quintessentially Indonesion textile. The word “Batik” is originally from Indonesian word which is pronounce as “Ba-teek”. There are unlimited batik patterns such as flowers, twinning plants, leaves buds, birds, butterflies, fish, insects and geometric forms. You can differentiate the batik by it’s characteristic crackle or veining that appears throughout the design and unifies the color and composition.

Today, the trend is to decorate the fabric any way the artist envisions; to apply design by any method, traditional or innovative, and even depart from standard procedures. Batik today is used for clothing, hangings, furnishings, relief and stuffed sculpture. It is no longer considered a "pure" art but one which can be combined with other media and methods. The driving force for the artist is to apply the technique for the end desired, rather than allowing the technique to control the artist as an end in it.
